A visual exploration of fatherhood, this 414-page book comprises 190 photographs of footballers in their role as father, or alongside their own fathers. This representation of fatherhood goes beyond the overly stylised, unrealistic images produced by stock photography, revealing rather the “hidden” vulnerability present within male-to-male relationships. For this reason, Maurice van Es started collecting photos of fathers in the first place, giving way to a series of photographs that foreground the physical bond between a father and son. The book also explores father-daughter relationships, emphasizing the role of the father within the family. In addition to the book, a podcast will be produced featuring a biologist, a psychologist, and an economist, who will reflect on various aspects of fatherhood.
